State Lands Grazing Packet
The information contained in this Guidebook addresses a variety of factors and assists land managers and grazing operators in developing Grazing Agreement and a comprehensive Management Action Plan (MAP) that will help achieve local environmental goals and objectives, ensure a sustainable grazing operation, and support a mutually beneficial relationship. The Guidebook explains terminology and practical concerns, and includes detailed discussion of sources, goals, and useful components of a Grazing Agreement.
The Grazing License Agreement Template was approved for use on State lands by the Department of General Services (DGS) and the Board of Forestry & Fire Protection. Once completed, this Agreement is a legally binding contract between DGS and the Grazing Operator. While developed for use on State lands, this agreement could be modified for use on land with other types of land ownership (i.e., private), but the State is not responsible for the outcomes of its use, or for any agreements entered into outside of DGS.
